After a long break, the great Austrian Tasting returned to Switzerland. The winemakers had the opportunity to present a wide range of Austrian wines to the professional audience in Switzerland.
In view of the global situation, the Austrian Tasting Switzerland is redesigning its concept. It consists of a two-day event in Zurich, in the renovated and modernised Kongresshaus directly on Lake Zurich. An online tasting will follow a few weeks later. Thus, the entire event will become a hybrid event where guests from the wine industry can participate in both the tasting in Zurich and the online tasting in October.
Online Event (expert audience only):
12 October

A few weeks after the event in Zurich, which has already taken place, there was an additional online tasting as the second part of the Austrian Tastings Switzerland. This format was a tasting by winemaker portfolio, where guests had the possibility to put together an individual tasting package consisting of 72 small bottles (100 ml).
Recording of the Masterclass
In addition to the personal meetings and tastings directly with the winemakers and winery representatives, the Wein Steiermark Masterclass took place as part of the supporting programme. Hans Georg Babits (Wine Academics), Bastian Kaltenböck (Goedwinemakers Winery) and Andrea Jöbstl-Prattes (Wein Steiermark) guided us through the diversity of Steiermark wines during the Masterclass.
Live Event in Zurich:
30 - 31 August
30 - 31 August 2021
11 am - 8 pm trade | 5 - 8 pm open to the public

During the real live event, more than 100 wineries presented their portfolio to almost 400 trade visitors from the press, gastronomy and trade. The event was open to end consumers from 5 p.m. and so over 600 guests in total had the opportunity to enjoy the portfolio of the winemakers.
Exciting workshops and masterclasses were held as part of the Austrian Tasting. The masterclasses were completely booked and were highly appreciated by the participants.
Extending the tasting to two days made it possible to better regulate the flow of visitors and thus comply with Covid rules and regulations in the best possible way. All guests were required to show a Covid certificate upon entry to ensure the safety of all participants.
