Wine details

2015 Vulkanland Steiermark Reserve
Sauvignon Blanc Ried Kirchleiten „GSTK Bio“

Information on location and soil

Kirchleiten is a south-open cauldron, whose soil is characterized by sand, gravel and Opok. The dominant sand is made partly from tertiary sea sediments and the other half from the weathering of the underlying tuff (fossilized volcanic ash).

Information on maturation

The Sauvignon blanc is macerated on the skin for 8 hours, fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured on the lees for 9 months. The grapes are exclusively harvested by hand.

Smell

Intense notes of ripe mango, yellow peach and lychee. Fine notes of grapefruit and biscuit.

Taste

The palate shows repeatedly mango and ripe peach. The juicy acidity and the powerful body in the backlash dominate the impression. In the finish remains wet stone and texturing tannin.

Food recommendation

Goes well with classical Viennese cuisine, with fried fish with intense sauces, pork fillets or roast veal.
