Information on location and soil

The warm shell limestone soils of the single-vineyard site Flamberg go back to the ancient coral reefs of the primordial ocean. At 500 meters above sea level, Sauvignon Blanc and Morillon are grown in a well-protected, basin-like slope situation.

Information on maturation

The hand-picked grapes were harvested in late october. After pressing the free-run juice was allowed to undergo a wild fermentation with indigenous yeasts in big wodden barrels. The wine remained in the cellar on yeast lees for 20 months.

Smell

This multilayered Morillon shows a lot of elegant flavours in the nose, containing pears and walnuts with hints of and sesame and cress.

Taste

On the palate flavors of brioche, medlar, cardamom and anise are merged with salty mineral notes. The elegant texture is complimented by a fine acidity which contributes to a long lasting, vibrant finish.

Food recommendation

The alpine-mediterranean climate of Southern Styria gives the Morillon a unique characteristic – it goes well with fish, white meat, pasta and rice dishes.
