Information on location and soil

The Gamitz vineyard stretches on a southwest-facing hillside that is climatically protected by two higher mountains. The soil comprises gravel and sand. Here, the vines have grown since 1963 and have since formed orrespondingly deep root systems.

Information on maturation

The ripe grapes were carefully selected and harvested by hand. After a skin-contact maceration of 18 hours the grapes were gently pressed. Fermentation took place in big wooden barrels and stainless steel and the wine aged on the fine yeast for 6 months.

Smell

It is an expressive Gelber Muskateller with spicy mineral notes: wild herbs, wild mint, allspice and nutmeg are found in the nose along with flavors of white peach and mango.

Taste

The nuanced body is dry, shows precise structure and juicy fruit of mango, papaya and pineapple. The wine's complex flavors and long, lingering finish beautifully express the rare, old vines.

Food recommendation

The Gelber Muskateller is a great wine for warm summer days. It goes well with white meats like chicken and turkey, fish and sour marinated dishes. It also fits well with Asian cuisine, because its low alcohol content and fruity flavors support dishes with aromatic spices such as ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and chili.
