Hike & Taste - a short visit to Steiermark. Under this motto, Austrian Wine in cooperation with Wine&Co, organized a press hike in Blue Mountain Reservation, New York. We discovered Steiermark's wine variety and enjoyed an authentic picnic.
Benjamin Gutenbrunner, born Austrian and NYC innkeeper, lead the hiking group and provided insights into Steiermark’s wine-growing region. Steiermark is internationally known for its Chardonnay (also called Morillon) and Sauvignon Blanc. In addition, Schilcher, Muskateller and Traminer were tasted. A tasty picnic from Café Katja (NYC) rounded off the joint excursion.
There was plenty of fresh air, a leisurely hike and extensive discussions about Steiermark's wines.
