Star Wine List of the Year
goes Global with Austrian Wine

This year, the final of the Star Wine List of the Year took place for the third time. The Gold Star awards were presented to the winners of each category in Stockholm. In the Best Austrian Wine List category, the restaurant Wallsé emerged as the winner.

The grand final was a live event in London on June 13, where the best wine lists of each country were awarded. After an amazing tour through seven different european countries and Australia, all finalists meet up in Great Britain. The international winner of the category “Best Austrian Wine List” is the restaurant Heaven 23 in Gothenburg.

Star Wine List celebrated the best wine lists in the world during the online competition “Global Star Wine List of the Year”, hosted by Austrian Wine. It awarded the best wine lists from all the local competitions, held during fall 2020 and spring 2021. The regional winners were finalists in their category, and during this celebration, we crowned the global winners!

At the end of the first international Star Wine List of the Year, Star Wine List celebrated a grand online final together Austrian Wine, in which the winners of the national competitions competed against each other. The best wine lists in the different categories were awarded nationwide. The Palais Coburg won the "Global Star Wine List of the Year" category.

Newcomer is the home, shop and wine bar of Newcomer Wines, an importer of largely new wave Austrian wine producers, peppered with a few from Germany, Switzerland and France. The drink in and takeaway list is fleshed out further with wines from other importers.

The interior and set up is functional and low key, with a small patio garden space for al fresco drinking when the British weather allows. They serve top quality cheese and charcuterie style snacks and often have guest chefs hosting dinners or cooking for a stint.

The Michelin-starred restaurant Fitzgerald is located in the center of Rotterdam. This well-designed restaurant is a combination of classic chic and comfortable warmth. The owner and host Danny Gonzalez, who was named host of the year by GaultMillau, is a true wine fanatic. Fitzgerlad’s wine list lives with passion and an eye for details and specificity.

When you take the elevator up to the 41st floor of Grand Lisboa Hotel and step out, you can immediately see the 19th century Steinway Grand Piano with this stunning Austrian crystal chandelier above. The cuisine is traditional French, and besides signature dishes like foie gras with roasted guinea fowl or the Kagoshima​ beef, there are also many other highlights such as the bread, cheese and dessert trolley.
